Bea Shaffer and her husband Francesco Carrozzini have split after nearly eight years of marriage, Page Six has learned.
The daughter of Vogue guru Anna Wintour married the son of the late Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani in July 2018, and the marriage became a true fashion union.
The couple, who share a 4-year-old son, told Page Six they remain “best friends.”
“After 10 wonderful years together, we have decided to separate,” the couple said in a statement. “While our careers have taken us in different directions, we remain the best of friends and devoted and devoted parents to our son. This is the only statement we will make, and we ask that you respect our privacy.”
Bea and Francesco have been rumored to be married in recent months as they have rarely been seen together, but just last week they posed together at the Met Gala, where she was still wearing her wedding ring.
A few weeks ago, Bea attended the New York premiere of The Devil Wears Prada at Lincoln Center with her mother and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cordry Shaffer.
Bee, 38, is a producer at New York’s ATG Entertainment, known for his work on Broadway productions including the 2022 revival of “Plaza Suite,” the 2023-2024 production of “Appropriate,” and the hit musical “Parade.”
She and Francesco, 43, split their time between New York and Italy, where he works as a film director and director.
The pair first became romantically involved in 2016 and tied the knot in front of 150 guests at Wintour’s mansion in Mastic, Long Island, but of course they were not allowed to post any photos on social media. Actor Colin Firth served as host and read the words of Wintour and Sozzani, who died of lung cancer in December 2016 at the age of 66.
They then held a second celebration in Portofino, Italy.
Page Six announced that Bea was pregnant with her first child in July 2021, and that she gave birth to a son in October of the same year.
Bee is one of Winter’s two children with her ex-husband, David Shafer, a prominent psychiatrist who died in October 2023 at the age of 87. Their son, Charles, is also a New York City physician specializing in psychiatry.
In 2014, Bea opened up to Grazia about what it’s really like for Winter to be a mother. She revealed that her mother “became even more famous” after The Devil Wears Prada was released. (In the film, Meryl Streep plays a parody of a Wintour-esque fashion magazine editor.) Wintour found it “interesting” that people saw her as “very cold” at the time of the film’s release.
“But I know she’s the most generous person I’ve ever met,” Bea added. “It’s crazy, but she puts other people before herself, so I know that’s who she is. She’s also efficient. She gets bored easily and wants to get things done. But she’s the boss!”
