Michelle Obama had a girls’ night out with her two daughters, Malia Obama and Sasha Obama.
The trio arrived at celebrity hotspot Funke Restaurant in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Monday night, surrounded by Secret Service agents, as seen in photos obtained by Page Six.
Michelle, 62, stepped out casually wearing a jacket, fitted henley top, brown belt and low-rise jeans.
The former first lady’s simple yet chic outfit was reminiscent of the one she wore for a photo shoot with celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz last year.
Maria, 27, looked dazzling in a knee-length floral cami dress, black boots and silver jewellery.
Meanwhile, Sasha, 24, paired her denim top and jeans with pointy navy flats.
Everyone was smiling as it seemed like they were celebrating a belated Mother’s Day dinner.
Michelle, who is married to Barack Obama, recently opened up about how she and her husband are spending a “new phase” in their lives as empty nesters, with Sasha graduating from the University of Southern California in 2023 and Malia graduating from Harvard in 2021.
“Our kids are grown. They’re out,” she said on a March episode of the podcast “IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson.”
“They walk out. We look at each other like, ‘Hey, I remember you.'” Now I’m not mad about anything. You don’t have to do anything for me. ”
“This is a new level,” Michelle admitted. “It takes time. We are in a new phase of life.”
The author reiterated that without children, “a lot of the hard stuff” doesn’t happen as often in her and Barack’s household.
“When these beautiful, wonderful children that we all want show up with their own agendas and needs, it’s the first big collaborative project that we have to do together,” she explained.
Michelle and Barack first met at a law firm in the late 1980s and married in 1992.
They welcomed Malia in July 1998 and Sasha in June 2001.
The girls were just 10 and 7 years old, respectively, when their father was elected president of the United States in 2008. Barak’s two terms as president kept the girls under the microscope until they were 18 and 15 years old.
