Wildlife documentarian David Attenborough celebrates his 100th birthday. He was widely celebrated, with the Prince and Princess of Wales paying tribute on social media. The post for Mr. Attenborough included a video of three children asking Mr. Attenborough questions.
On May 8th, the world celebrated documentarian David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. The conservationist was honored with a merry-go-round of photos and videos on social media by the Prince and Princess of Wales. In 2020, the family met Attenborough, including Duchess Kate and Prince William’s three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
The posts included images of the group spending time with Attenborough in his garden and videos of children asking Attenborough questions about wildlife. Children are usually quiet in public, so it’s a rare moment to hear them talking. And they’re totally adorable.
Lewis asks Attenborough which animal he likes best, saying, “What animal do you like?”
Attenborough replied that he loves monkeys because they are “so funny.”
Charlotte asks, “I like spiders. Do you like spiders too?”
The wildlife expert claims he too loves spiders but doesn’t understand why people are so afraid of them, as they are “amazing things”.
George then asks more seriously about animals that could become extinct. Mr Attenborough is optimistic, saying he hopes that doesn’t happen and that there is much the public can do to protect endangered animals around the world.
“Celebrating 100 years of the birth of Sir David Attenborough, a national treasure and an inspiration to us all,” Duchess Kate and Prince William wrote in the caption.
In March 2026, royal photographer Chris Jackson spoke with Page Six about watching the royal children grow up in public.
“I don’t see them very often, but when I do, it’s so fun to watch them grow,” Jackson shared. “I think they understand that being in this situation is not normal.”
He added: “It’s lovely to see them interacting together. It’s been really special to photograph them over the years.”
