The dating show “Marriage Market” has been ordered by Fox, the network announced Friday. The unscripted series, hosted by actress, comedian and podcaster Whitney Cummings, is scheduled to air in the 2026-27 season.
“Marriage Market” allows truly single people to relinquish control of their love lives to their families and place their faith in the high-stakes experiment of arranged marriage.
According to the official logline, “Full of humor, heart, heartbreak, and unpredictable outcomes, ‘Marriage Market’ is a uniquely immersive matching experience that unites families with one goal in mind: helping single families find meaningful and lasting marriage partners.” “In this vibrant, real-world setting, families will meet, connect, and advocate for their loved ones while searching for the perfect partner.”
Just when two families believe they’ve created the perfect marriage, two single people get engaged on the spot, with the goal of actually saying “married”. “From there, the couple and their families live together, navigating real-life chemistry, big personalities, and even bigger expectations.”
“‘Marriage Market’ gives a whole new meaning to shotgun weddings and turns dating on its head with one of the most extreme marketplace spectacles ever seen,” said Michael Thorne, president of Fox Television Networks. “Watching families come together to play a game is so relatable and so emotional, giving this unique concept all the elements of Fox’s signature unscripted series.”
“‘Marriage Market’ is a bold new format that reflects our strategy to take big cultural risks and create unique IP that our audiences love,” said Alison Wallach, Head of Unscripted, FOX Entertainment Studios. “We’ve taken a timeless idea and reimagined it in a modern, high-stakes way, with the family in full control and the talented and always entertaining Whitney Cummings hosting the show.”
Marriage Market is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios and distributed worldwide by Fox Entertainment Global. The series will be executive produced by Alicia Rossiter and John Kerr, with Rossiter serving as showrunner.
