Spandau Ballet singer Ross Davidson was spotted grinning while being arrested for sexually assaulting and raping several women in 2021.
In newly released body camera footage, the frontman, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Thursday, smiles and shakes his head as a police officer reads out a list of charges.
At the time, police cited three crimes that occurred in 2019, including rape, voyeurism, and recording of victims without their consent.
Davidson, 38, was convicted of having sex with six women between August 2013 and December 2019, including while they were sleeping.
The musician was tried twice, the first time in July 2024, when he was found guilty of two counts of sexual assault, rape and voyeurism against several victims.
He returned to court in January 2025 and was found guilty of raping a woman in London in March 2015 and sexually assaulting another victim while in Thailand in December 2019, according to the Times.
During his trial, Davidson denied the charges against him, telling the court: “I have never raped, sexually assaulted, or coerced a woman in my life.”
The incident occurred at a time when Davidson was at the height of his fame.
The singer, whose stage name is Ross Wilde, is best known for singing with the famous Spandau Ballet company in the 1980s. Although he is not the band’s original singer, he joined in 2018 to replace founding member Tony Hadley.
He also appeared in the West End musical ‘We Will Rock You’.
In court on Thursday, Judge John Dodd KC said: “During the six years between 2013 and 2019, when your stage and music career was rapidly developing and you were seen by many as charismatic, you also behaved in an absolutely shameful manner towards women,” according to the Independent.
The judge also said Davidson had an “adventurous attitude towards sexual matters” and a tendency to treat women “without respect”.
The judge also said six victims spoke up in court and gave clear evidence “without exaggeration”.
Five of the women attended the hearing, and Davidson shared the trauma of her actions while reading a book, the newspaper said.
“I feel like he re-traumatized me by refusing to acknowledge his guilt. I find his despicability absolutely deplorable,” one victim said.
