“Summer House” spin-off “In the City” returns to the camera after Amanda Batula and West Wilson’s shocking relationship announcement.
Bravo executive Frances Barwick confirmed to The Anclarer on Wednesday that the upcoming series had filmed “new scenes” to cover the aftermath of the shocking romance.
“‘In the City’ is coming out in a few weeks, and in the first episode you’ll see there are new scenes that we’ve filmed with several of the cast members,” Barwick said.
“So we took it there, but we didn’t feel like it was the right thing to do on ‘Summer House,'” she continued.
Barwick explained that the network “didn’t feel it was right” to immediately return cameras to “Summerhouse” because it wanted to prioritize the “mental health” of the cast.
Instead, production “took a breather” before including Wilson and Batula’s storyline in the spinoff, Barwick said.
“And that was obviously at the reunion last week. As everyone knows by now, we taped the reunion last week,” she added.
“In the City” was filmed last fall and will premiere on Wednesday, May 19, after the “Summer House” season 10 finale.
The spinoff’s cast includes Batula, Kyle Cook, Lindsay Hubbard, who currently stars in “Summer House,” alums Daniel Olivera and Andrea Denver, as well as several new cast members.
Batula, 34, and Cook, 43, were still married when they filmed “In the City.” The two announced their breakup in January after four years of marriage.
More than two months later, Batula confirmed his romance with Wilson, who was dating former best friend Ciara Miller.
Wilson, 31, and Miller, 30, are not cast members of In the City, but the trailer shows Wilson flirting with Batula.
In a joint statement on March 31, Wilson and Batula confessed that their relationship was “born out of a genuine friendship over many years” and insisted that they “never intended to intentionally hide anything.”
Wilson and Batula faced off with their co-stars at the season 10 reunion, which was filmed in New York City last Thursday.
In leaked audio from a roundtable discussion hosted by Andy Cohen, Miller calls Batula, who dated Wilson, a “fucking snake,” and Cook calls Wilson a “shithole.”
Batula fiercely defended her romance with Wilson, who remained largely silent in the leaked audio.
