Hulu invites the Emmys on a trip to the deli.

The streamer has submitted entries for the second season of the Pakistani-American comedy “Deli Boys” in 22 categories, with a total of 28 entries expected, Variety exclusively reported.

At the center of that push is an outstanding comedy series of plays, with the sophomore production scheduled to be binge-watched on Hulu on May 28, 2026, three days before the end of the eligibility period. The show has a high approval rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and landed on numerous best-of lists in its first year.

Sagar Shaikh, who plays the impulsive younger brother Raj Dhar, will be competing in the lead comedy actor category. Furthermore, the supporting actors are led by Asif Ali, who plays the role of brother Mir Dar, and Brian George, who plays Ahmad, two notable additions for this season. Emmy Award winner and “Saturday Night Live” alumnus Fred Armisen joins the cast for the second season as Max Sugar, a casino magnate who becomes the chaotic new love interest of the brothers’ Aunt Lucky. Tony Award nominee and Grammy Award winner Andrew Rannells will appear as Philadelphia District Attorney Andrew Chadwater, who is trying to run for mayor after a serious scandal.

Poorna Jagannathan, a fan favorite for her role as the fearsome crime boss Aunt Lucky, is the only supporting comedy actress nominee.

The campaign also targets a deep pool of guest actors for the upcoming second season. Emmy and Oscar nominee Kumail Nanjiani will join “Queer Eye” host Tan France and former “Glee” star Iqbal Teva on the guest comedy actor ballot. At the same time, six-time Emmy nominee Robin Seeds, a comedian known for her work on “The Black Lady Sketch Show,” and YouTuber and Canadian comedian Lilly Singh will compete for a spot in the guest comedy actress race. The series will also compete in the director and comedy categories, but the official selection has not yet been decided. Hulu is working with artisans to feature “Deli Boys” in 14 additional craft categories. Submission and crafting details for specific episodes will be announced in the coming weeks.

Season 2 begins with the Dahl family discovering that inheriting a criminal empire was actually easy. Drunk in dirty money and surrounded by some of Philadelphia’s most unscrupulous business owners, Mir strives to grow his family’s Darko business without setting it on fire. Raj plots revenge against Ahmad, and Lucky finds his professional and personal lives blurred as Max Sugar turns money laundering into what can generously be called a situationship.

The Emmy submission deadline is May 7th, and voting for the nomination round will take place from June 11th to June 22nd. Nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced on July 8th.
