Madonna took to the stage with Sabrina Carpenter during Weekend 2 of Coachella. The pop stars performed Madonna’s biggest hits together, including “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer.” After their performance, both stars took to Instagram to pay tribute to each other and reflect on how unforgettable the night was.
On Friday night, Sabrina Carpenter wowed the crowd during her second weekend at Coachella by welcoming pop icon Madonna to the stage. The stars performed two of Madonna’s biggest hits, “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer.” They also sang a new song that is believed to be included on Madonna’s upcoming album, Confessions on the Dance Floor: Part II, scheduled for release in July of this year.
Days later, Carpenter and Madonna reflected on the milestone performance, posting glowing tributes to each other on Instagram.
Carpenter wrote, “Coachella weekend number 2 might be the worst cake ever. Madonna…I want to talk to you! 💋💋💋, for coming out and bringing me the love and entertaining the crowd with all you, your astrology knowledge, and the best songs of all time.” Thank you for letting me do this. Last night was a dream come true. It was an honor to spend so much time with you, laugh, and most importantly, share the stage with you.” Please forget about ×. ”
Yesterday, Madonna shared a post of herself featuring a photo from that night on a merry-go-round. “Still flying high since Coachella on Friday night!” she wrote. “Thank you Sabrina and everyone who made it possible to put Confessions II back where it started – it was such a thrill! A moment in history I’ll never forget! 🩷 Feels so free 🩷”
She added more context on her Instagram Story, revealing that the outfit was unfortunately missing. “This full-circle moment felt completely different until I realized that all the vintage items I was wearing – my costumes, jackets, corsets, dresses, and all other clothing pulled from my personal archives – were missing,” she wrote. “These aren’t just clothes. They are part of my history. Other archival items from the same era have gone missing as well. I hope and pray that some kind soul will find these items and reach out to my team,” she added in an Instagram Story, providing full contact information and offering a reward.
On stage that Friday, Madonna spoke to the audience about the importance of her costume, saying, “Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella. That was the first time. That was such a thrill for me. So you can imagine how thrilling it is to come back 20 years later wearing the same boots, the same jacket, the Gucci jacket.” So this is like a very meaningful full-circle moment for me. ”
Meanwhile, Carpenter wore a custom Dior bodysuit that was full of sparkle.
Carpenter is a huge fan of Madonna and has performed covers of her songs in the past, particularly during her “Short and Sweet” tour.
Carpenter had a number of other special guests on his Coachella set over the weekend, including Susan Sarandon, Samuel L. Jackson, Will Ferrell, and Girl Meets World co-star Corey Fogelmanis. Weekend 2 welcomed actors Geena Davis and Terry Crews.
Before the performance, Carpenter told Perfect magazine’s Marc Jacobs that he was heavily invested in the show.
“This is the most ambitious show I’ve ever done,” she said. “This might be the longest time ever that we actually sit down and talk about the show as we’re building it. Most of the time we jump into physical rehearsals right away, but this time we started this process about seven months ago. So it’s been a long journey. It’s going to be something very special.”
