Laura Sheen has revealed that she “begged” her mother Denise Richards to get back together with ex-boyfriend Patrick Muldoon in a touching tribute to the late actor.
“I thought you were someone who was supposed to be in our lives forever. When I think back to my childhood, I remember you caressing me, and it’s going to be so weird to move on without you in our lives,” Sheen wrote on Instagram Monday.
“You meant so much to our family. Life will never feel the same, but that’s how much of an impact you have had on us. Thank you for teaching those around you how to live,” she continued.
The 20-year-old recalled going on a family vacation with Muldoon, who remained very close to Richards after their breakup, and how he made her “laugh so much” by singing the song “Lola.”
“I really miss hearing my mom laugh on the phone with you. I’m going to miss hearing your voice because it always brightened my day. But I know she would do it more, but we’ll never stop talking about you,” Sheen continued, thanking the “Melrose Place” alum for being her mom’s “best friend.”
“Thank you for making her laugh and making her forget everything she was going through. That was a gift you had. The bond between you two was so special that no one could touch it.”
“When I think of my mother, I think of you. You all came as a package, and I am so grateful to have known you and witnessed a friendship so pure and special.”
At the end of her emotional tribute, Laura, whose father was Richards’ ex-husband Charlie Sheen, revealed that Muldoon was the person she always imagined her mother would end up with.
“I always begged my mom, and I think she said we’d get back together eventually lol, but I think it would have been better if we just remained best friends ♥️ You’ve truly been a rock star and always will be. Have fun, I know you will. I love you.”
The “Days of Our Lives” alum passed away Sunday from a sudden heart attack. He was 57 years old.
According to TMZ, he spent his last morning with his partner Miriam Rothbart, who tragically found him unconscious on the bathroom floor.
Paramedics were called, but Muldoon was pronounced dead at the scene.
Muldoon and Richards, 55, shared such a “deep friendship” that the latter felt obligated to cut him out of her life during her tumultuous marriage to Sheen.
“I never spoke to Pat when I was married to Charlie,” Richards said on a 2025 episode of reality show Denise Richards and Her Wild Things.
“It was tough because I didn’t want to lose him as a ‘friend.’ But towards the end of our marriage, I was always talking to him about him,” she explained, adding that Sheen “struggled” with her relationship with Muldoon.
She married Sheen, 60, in 2002 and welcomed 21-year-old daughters Sami and Lola before splitting in 2006.
During the same episode, Sami even claimed that there was still a spark between Muldoon and Richards when the former lovers reunited on the set of Muldoon and Richards’ music video. However, the “Wild Things” star was with her estranged husband Aaron Phypers at the time.
“I don’t want to get him into trouble, but I feel like he might still have feelings for my mom,” she teased while relaxing on the set of the video, noting that they “have about 30 years of history.”
Richards has not yet spoken publicly about Muldoon’s death.
