Mindy Cohn revealed on Instagram on Sunday that she is battling cancer for the second time.
“I took a break from social media for a while because I had to overcome cancer,” Cohn wrote. “I was able to do so thanks to the extraordinary help of the staff at Providence St. John’s Hospital, especially nurses Finja, Patti, and Courtney, and my hero, the phenomenal oncological surgeon (Anton Bilchik)….Thank you to my family, who have been my advocates and are always ready to help me when it’s my turn.” You’ll have a few more weeks to recover and prepare for your next adventure. Next! Fuck cancer! ”
In a 2017 interview with People magazine, Cohn revealed that she had been secretly recovering from breast cancer for the past five years.
“I kept it a secret for a long time,” she said at the time. “I was always an optimist, but the cancer metastasized. It metastasized and came back. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it would. And I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it did. I was frustrated and furious. I had no control over this situation. I couldn’t fix it.”
Cohn is best known for playing Natalie Green on the NBC comedy “The Facts of Life.” The show ran for nine seasons from 1979 to 1988. Most recently, she starred as Anne Holliday in the Apple TV+ series Palm Royale. She also appeared in the comedy film Influenced alongside Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Cohn received several supportive comments on her post from stars including Octavia Spencer, Rhea Seehorn, Chelsea Handler, and Sarah Paulson.
