June marks the 20th anniversary of the “Cars” series. Lightning McQueen and his racing friends were first introduced to audiences in 2006 at Radiator Springs.
The series will be produced by Disney Television Animation in association with Pixar. Travis Browne and Frank Montagna are attached to executive produce the series. Dana Starfield is the story editor and Nathan Chew is the show’s supervising director.
Cars: Lightning Racers is scheduled to premiere on Disney Junior in 2027 and then on Disney+, and the series has been selected for this year’s Annecy Festival Works in Progress panel.
