Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb reunited on Monday’s “Today” show as co-hosts for the first time in more than a year.
“Good morning, everyone. And welcome to Today.” “It’s nice to be with you on Monday morning,” Guthrie began, then turned to his friend and put his hand on his arm. “I’m so glad you came, Hoda!”
“I’m so happy to be sitting next to you in this chair again,” Kotb replied, to which Guthrie added, “Oh, that’s good. It’s the same as before!”
She then explained that Hoda, 61, was filling in for Craig Melvin and that he was on “a well-deserved vacation with his family this week.”
The last time Kotub and Guthrie sat together at the Today programming desk was on January 10, 2025, the former’s final day as host.
Kotb and Guthrie previously co-hosted the morning show from 2018 to 2025, making history as the first all-female duo.
Earlier this year, Kotubu filled in for a colleague while her friend was on leave due to the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie.
“We always talk about the show as a family. We’re a family and I’m part of the family,” Kotub explained to Melvin in February. “I’m glad to be with you because we show up for each other. So let’s get started!”
Kotb wasn’t there when Savannah, 54, made her long-awaited return to Today on April 6 after a more than two-month hiatus. She was greeted by enthusiastic fans at Rockefeller Plaza.
After reflecting on the news with Melvin, 46, Savannah gushed: “It’s great to be able to go home.”
Savannah revealed her return date last month during an emotional conversation with Kotb about her mother’s abduction – her first interview since the tragedy.
Savannah revealed heartbreaking details about the ordeal in an intimate segment, including how she learned the 84-year-old man had disappeared from his home.
“My sister (Annie Guthrie) called me and said, ‘Are you OK?’ And she said, ‘No. “She said, ‘Mommy’s missing,'” Savannah recalled. “So I said, ‘What? What are you talking about?’ She said, ‘He’s gone.'”
During the March rally, Savannah also denied speculation that her family was involved in the kidnapping and shared chilling new clues from the crime scene.
Savannah also opened up about the spiritual moment she heard Nancy’s voice telling her she was with God.
Nancy was reported missing from her home in Tucson on February 1st.
Savannah, Annie, and their brother Camron Guthrie have since received numerous ransom notes related to Nancy’s disappearance, but the NBC personality believes only two of them are legitimate.
The search continues for the suspect, who was seen wearing a mask and carrying a weapon, as seen in the horrifying footage from Nancy’s security camera.
