They say bye-bye-bye.
Former *NSYNC member Joey Fatone has revealed that the boy band, which includes Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick, discussed reuniting but ultimately decided against it.
“Probably not, to be clear,” he exclusively told Page Six about the group’s reunion. “I literally just said, ‘Will anything happen in the next few years of *NSYNC?’” And it was no. ”
He said that when *NSYNC members met as a group, they talked about reuniting, but it never got into logistics or “actually doing any kind of performance.”
Their conversation was more general, he told Page Six. “Literally, the five of us were saying, ‘How’s everyone doing?'”
The singer, who is promoting his new ID series Boy Band Confidential, said he doesn’t think all of his band members want to reunite for a performance.
“So do you think something will happen in the next two to four years? Probably not. That’s perfectly fine. We finally have an answer.”
The band, first formed in 1995, went on an indefinite hiatus in 2002. They have reunited several times over the years, including at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, 2018’s “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” 2019 Coachella with Ariana Grande (sans Timberlake), and the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.
Timberlake, 45, has also taken a hit to his reputation in recent years.
In June 2024, the pop star was arrested on DWI-related charges in Sag Harbor, New York. The “Sexy Back” singer was charged with one count of driving under the influence and two traffic violations: failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to drive on the right.
His mugshot went viral online, and his line to the police, “This is going to ruin my tour,” became a viral meme.
The Grammy winner entered into a plea deal leading up to his arrest, reducing the DWI charge to a traffic violation, but this is not a criminal defense.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six on March 2, Timberlake sued the upscale Hamptons town to prevent the public release of body camera footage from his DWI arrest, but it was released later that month anyway.
In the video, the woman’s friend begs the police, “I liked ‘Bye Bye Bye’ or ‘Sexy Back,’ so could you please do me a favor?” Please allow me to make just one request! ”
Meanwhile, Fatone executives are producing a documentary called “Boy Band Confidential,” which interviews former boy band members about their behind-the-scenes experiences.
The doc includes fellow *NSYNC member Lance Bass, as well as former 98 Degrees member Nick Lachey, former Backstreet Boy member AJ McLean, and more.
“Boy Band Confidential” will premiere on Monday, April 13th and Tuesday, April 14th at 9pm on ID and HBO Max.
