FX has renewed the hit docuseries “Welcome to Wrexham” for three more seasons, Variety reports.

This news means the show will continue until at least season 8. It also comes about a month earlier than the Season 5 premiere, with the first two episodes coming on May 14 on FXX and Hulu. After that, one new episode will drop every week.

“When we launched Welcome to Wrexham, we never imagined it would have such an impact on the club and the city while creating one of television’s most successful and beloved documentary series,” said Nick Glad, president of FX Entertainment. “This three-season renewal is a testament to Rob and Ryan’s vision and the lasting connections they have made with fans around the world.”

Rob Mack and Ryan Reynolds, co-chairmen of Wrexham AFC, said: “The order for a third season of the TV series is almost unprecedented and was only possible thanks to the ground-breaking work of our Emmy Award-winning documentary team, the continued rise of Wrexham AFC and all those working hard to make sporting history.” “We are forever grateful to our equally fearless and energetic partners at FX who have been with us every step of the way. We are very happy to continue telling Wrexham’s story for many years to come.”

According to the official description for Season 5, this season will see Wrexham AFC aim for promotion to the Premier League following three successive promotions, a feat never before achieved in the history of the English Football League.

The series is executive produced by Mack, Reynolds, Josh Drisco, Brian Rowland, Jeff Luini, Humphrey Kerr, Nicholas Frenkel, George Dewey, and Boardwalk Pictures’ Andrew Freed, Dane Lillegard, Sarina Roma and Andy Thomas. Produced by More Better Productions, Maximum Effort, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Boardwalk Pictures.
