Kelly Ripa said she knew her husband, Mark Consuelos, wouldn’t have sex with him when she brought him home for the night.
The revelation came after the couple discussed koala mating habits on Wednesday’s show “Live with Kelly and Mark,” with Consuelos sharing that when the female koala is in a bad mood, the male koala doesn’t care.
“When they’re mating, the koalas go in there and say, ‘Hello, I’m Koala-san, nice to meet you, Koala-san.'” Sometimes they’re not interested, Consuelos said. “Instead of being heartbroken, they fall asleep again.”
Ripa, 55, immediately quipped, “You look like me!”
The TV personality then hilariously portrayed her turning her back on Consuelos and crowding his servants. She said this was a clear sign that the two were not going to be intimate that night.
“I can hear the retainers coming in. It’s like a chastity belt,” she joked.
Consuelos, 55, agreed, making fun of the loud noises his wife makes when she wears her retainer.
“When you put it in, it just clicks, clicks, clicks,” he explained. “Okay, I guess I’ll go to sleep now.”
He also said, “I come to bed with a little eucalyptus leaf and I’m like, ‘Hey, do you want to be silly? No? Okay.'”
Last July, Ripa admitted that she was averse to having sex in the morning – even though it was her husband’s preference.
“I told him, ‘Here’s the problem,'” she said on Amanda Hirsch’s podcast, Not Skinny But Not Fat. “‘There’s got to be a yin and a yang here. It’s not always going to go your way because I feel like 90 percent of the time it’s going to be your way. And now that we’re working together every day, sometimes you’re going to have to go my way. The only time it’s going to be my way is at night.’
Ms. Ripa said that Ms. Consuelos also liked kissing her in the morning, but that she definitely did not, referring to her retainer again.
“I have a retainer, and I have to remove it,” she explained. “And he’s wearing nose tape. It’s like we’re the most disgusting and disgusting (people).”
“The best thing about this job was that he almost resisted the weekday morning hours,” she added. “It’s like a miracle.”
She jokingly prayed, “I hope this show lasts until he suffers from erectile dysfunction.”
Earlier this month, Consuelos admitted on a daytime talk show that she was banned from having sex in the morning while filming Live with Kelly and Mark.
“I have to say, this job is really blocking that. It’s been an antidote to that,” the “Riverdale” alum admitted.
Consuelos and Ripa have been married since May 1996 and have three children, Michael, 28, Laura, 24, and Joaquin, 23.
