The Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Asia for the first time, with Bangkok set to be the inaugural host city.

The grand final of the show will be held in the Thai capital on November 14th.

The 10 countries confirmed to participate so far include Channel 3 in Thailand, PK Inc. in South Korea, Media Prima (TV3) in Malaysia, ABS-CBN in the Philippines, Vietnam Television (VTV3) in Vietnam, TV5 Cambodia in Cambodia, Vientiane Capital Television (VTE9) in Laos, NTV in Bangladesh, Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS) in Bhutan, and Himalaya TV in Nepal.

More countries will be announced in the coming weeks.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which owns and manages Eurovision, is organizing the contest in collaboration with Voxovation, 2O Productions and Thailand’s Channel 3.

Eurovision celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, and the European division will be held in Vienna, Austria, this May.

“As we celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, it feels especially meaningful to open the next chapter in Asia, a region rich in culture, creativity and talent,” said Martin Green, Director of Eurovision.

“This is about evolving Eurovision with Asia, building something that reflects the region’s voices, identities and ambitions, while remaining true to what has always made the contest special. Eurovision Song Contest Asia will continue our common journey to unite in music, shaped by the artists, broadcasters and audiences who make it their own.”

Peter Setman, CEO and co-founder of Voxovation, said: “From day one, our ambition has been to build Eurovision Song Contest Asia with the region’s best creative talent, creating a show that truly reflects Asia’s identity and creative energy. Through deep engagement across borders, we are shaping a show where artists and fans connect in new ways. I grew up watching Eurovision, singing along to the winners at the disco, and now watching my own children anticipate the results with the same excitement is so special.”

The American version of the competition, American Song Contest, was originally aired on NBC in 2022 as a reality series hosted by Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson, but was not renewed.
