Kendra Duggar told Joseph Duggar during a prison visit that she hired a lawyer just for herself in a child welfare misdemeanor case in Arkansas.
According to People, Kendra called her husband 90 minutes after being released from custody at the Washington County Detention Center in Arkansas on March 20.
The “Counting On” stars were each charged with four misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Joseph also faces charges of child sexual abuse for which he was initially confined in an institution.
In the couple’s phone call obtained by People, Joseph, 31, asked Kendra, 27, if she had heard from her attorney, Travis Storey.
“I’m talking to Travis,” Kendra reportedly told her husband. “I now have him as my lawyer.”
Kendra added, “I didn’t know if you knew it or not, but I asked him to be my lawyer.”

Joseph, apparently thinking Storey would represent them both, replied, “I didn’t know who I was reconciled with, but this person is a good person.”
Kendra then broke the news to Joseph that Story was only working for him.
“Well, it’s not for you. It’s just for me,” she said, adding that she was told she needed someone “to think about the kids and stuff.”
Storey previously worked with family patriarch Jim Bob Duggar and represented Joseph’s brother Josh Duggar in a 2021 federal trial. Josh is currently serving a 151-month prison sentence for child pornography charges.
Joseph and Kendra, who have four children, were each charged with eight misdemeanor counts after police found several suspicious keys in their parents’ home.
Page Six obtained footage of Kendra’s arrest, which shows her being patted down inside the jail. She was later released and is scheduled to appear in court with Joseph on April 29.
Meanwhile, Joseph was arrested in 2020 on suspicion of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl and was booked into the Washington County Correctional Facility on March 18th.
He was charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a victim under the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious acts with a victim over the age of 18.
Page Six confirmed that Joseph’s only visitor to the Arkansas prison was his lawyer, but Joseph spoke to Kendra on the phone multiple times.
Joseph, who was extradited to a Florida jail, grinned in a new mug shot obtained by Page Six exclusively from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Tuesday.
