Eli Roth’s Horror Section and Mass Appeal, the entertainment company founded by Grammy-winning rapper Nas, have entered into a strategic partnership. Through the partnership, which includes Mass Appeal’s investment in The Horror Section, the two companies will collaborate on many aspects of the business, including Roth and Nas co-developing film and television projects. The partnership begins when Nass and Mass Appeal CEO Peter Bittenbender will serve as executive producers on Roth’s new film, The Ice Cream Man. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Naz is one of the most influential storytellers and cultural voices of all time, and we quickly bonded over our mutual love of horror,” Ross said in a statement. “We’re excited to partner with Mass Appeal, which has an unparalleled pulse of cultural and authentic resonance. We look forward to working with Naz, Peter and the entire Mass Appeal team, starting with bringing The Ice Cream Man to theaters around the world and creating a cultural event in the horror space for audiences around the world.”
Mass Appeal said the deal will allow the company to move deeper into feature films, particularly the horror genre that Roth, director of “Hostel” and “Knock Knock,” specializes in.
“I’m proud to work with Eli to bring these films to life and push the boundaries of horror both culturally and creatively,” Nas said in a statement. “Eli and I have shared the same vision from the beginning, and it feels natural to partner with him on Horror Section. I’m excited to take this genre in an exciting new direction. The Ice Cream Man is just the beginning.”
“Ice Cream Man” is the first film directed by Roth under the Horror Section banner after the latter was founded in March 2025. The film depicts a summer town going crazy as an ice cream man offers sweet treats to children, with dire consequences. The horror division recently announced the acquisition of Samuel Gonzalez Jr.’s latest horror feature, Stiletto, starring Gigi Gustin, Charlotte McKinney, Colleen Camp, Megan Carrasquillo, Stephen Blackheart and Hannah Huston.
Nas and Mass Appeal recently spearheaded the “Legend Has It…” series, which celebrates and spotlights the most important hip-hop artists of all time. The series included a year-long run of releases from influential artists including Slick Rick, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Big L, and De La Soul. Nas and DJ Premier ended the series with the release of their long-awaited collaborative album, “Light-Years,” on Mass Appeal.
Ross is repped by WME. Nas is represented by The Lede Company.
