As bookworms around the world eagerly await news of their favorite books, studios are gearing up to bring some of the hottest novels of the next few years to life.

All the latest casting news for the most anticipated upcoming movies and animated TV adaptations.

Gwyneth Paltrow will star in the film adaptation of Belle Burden’s best-selling memoir, The Strangers.

According to Variety, the actress will also serve as an executive producer on the Netflix film.

“It’s hard to imagine a great actress playing me,” Burden told ELLE. “It feels like a leap, but I think she’s going to be great. She was so great in ‘Marty Supreme,’ and it’s really great to have her back as an actress.”

Burden’s memoir, Strangers, details the shocking end to her 20-year marriage when her husband left her family without explanation or warning.

Page Six Hollywood previously reported that there was a huge bidding war between companies including Netflix, A24 and Warner Bros. for the rights to the film.

Kirsten Dunst to star in ‘The Housemaid’s Secret’.

According to Deadline, Freida McFadden fans were thrilled when it was revealed in March that Kirsten Dunst would be starring alongside Sidney Sweeney in the second installment of the Housemaid series, The Housemaid’s Secret.

The sequel follows Sweeney as he takes a job working for the mysterious Wendy Garrick (Dunst), whom he is never allowed to meet.

Director Paul Feig and screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshein are set to rejoin the sequel for the twisty thriller series.

Maya Hawke has been cast in the Netflix series “The God of the Woods,” scheduled to be released in March 2026.

Liz Moore’s best-selling novel exploded in popularity when it was published in summer 2024, but received even more attention in 2025 when Taylor Swift listened to the audiobook in a documentary series on Disney+.

According to Netflix, Hawke will play Lt. Judy Luptak in the multi-generational thriller about two people who disappear at the same summer camp 14 years apart.

She is the first of many major characters set in the series, which does not yet have a release date.

Daisy Edgar-Jones has been cast as Sadie Greene in Gabriel Zevin’s popular book Tomorrow and Tomorrow.

According to Variety, the film has been picked up by Paramount and will be directed by Sian Hedel.

Set in 2022, this novel tells the story of two childhood friends who reunite in college and start a wildly popular video game company together. The book was written over several decades and details the intricacies of their relationship.

Edgar-Jones is also set to play Eleanor Dashwood in a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility.

Juno Temple to star in ‘The Husbands’ Getty Images

Apple TV+ has found its leading lady in Juno Temple.

In April 2025, it was announced that the “Ted Lasso” actress would play Lauren, a woman who returns to her London apartment one night to be with her husband, whom she has never met. She soon learns that her “husband” changes every time she enters her apartment’s magical attic.

Written by Holly Gramazio, this book was selected as a Read With Jenna book when it was published in April 2024.

A release date for the eight-episode series has not been announced.

Lindsay Lohan to star in ‘Count My Rise’ Disney Getty Images

One of the biggest picks for the “Good Morning America” ​​book club in 2025 is the Hulu series offering.

In April 2025, Variety reported that it was announced that Lindsay Lohan would star in and serve as executive producer of Sophie Stava’s novel.

In Count My Lies, Sloane Carraway takes on a successful new job as a nanny for wealthy Violet (Lohan) and Jay Lockhart, but finds herself trapped in a world of manipulation and secrets.

In late 2025, it was revealed that Shailene Woodley was set to play Sloane and Kit Harington would be joining as Jay.

Fans have been begging for a theatrical adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s wildly popular novel The Nightingale for years, and it might finally be happening.

Dakota and Elle Fanning had been starring in the film since 2019, but production was delayed due to the pandemic.

However, filming is now officially scheduled to begin in April 2026, with a release date set for 2027.

This historical novel follows sisters Vianne and Isabelle in Nazi-occupied France during World War II.
