“Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD,” and “Chicago Med” have all been renewed on NBC, Variety reported.
With this renewal, “Chicago Fire” will be in season 15, “Chicago PD” will be in season 14, and “Chicago Med” will be in season 12. All three shows are scheduled to return with new seasons in the fall for the 2026-2027 broadcast season.
The renewal, which seemed to be at a standstill for a while, is getting back on track even faster than usual. NBC typically announces pickups for its “One Chicago” franchise in April ahead of NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation for advertisers in May.
All three shows remain highly rated in NBC’s primetime lineup even after their late start. They continue to anchor NBC’s Wednesday night schedule, airing back-to-back. On March 4, NBC aired another “One Chicago” crossover event, resulting in season-high total viewership for all three shows.
Wolf Entertainment, led by Dick Wolf, maintains a very strong relationship with NBC, with a rich overall agreement with Universal Television. Updates for Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Law & Order: Organized Crime are all still pending.
The cast of “Chicago Fire” includes Taylor Kinney, Miranda Rae Mayo, David Eigenberg, Christian Stolte, Dermot Mulroney, Hanako Greensmith, Jocelyn Hudon, Joe Miñoso and Brandon Laracuente. “Chicago PD” stars Jason Beghe, Patrick John Flueger, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, Benjamin Levi Aguilar, Amy Morton and Arjen Mundy. And “Chicago Med” currently stars Oliver Platt, Luke Mitchell, S. Epatha Merkerson, Stephen Weber, Sara Ramos, Jesse Schramm and Darren Barnett.
All three shows are produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment. Wolfe, Peter Jankowski and Anastasia Puglisi will executive produce all three shows. Allen MacDonald and Stephen Hootstein will serve as executive producers on “Chicago Med.” Chicago PD is executive produced by Gwen Sigan, Chad Saxton, Gavin Harris, and Beghe. Andrea Newman, Reza Tabrizzi and Matt Whitney will serve as executive producers on Chicago Fire.
NBC has already renewed comedies “Happy’s Place” and “St. Denis Medical.” Decisions are still being made on the freshman comedies “Stumble” and “The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.” NBC also has to make final decisions on “The Hunting Party” and “Brilliant Minds,” the latter of which was recently pulled from the schedule, which doesn’t bode well for the show’s future.
NBC is also making a return to pilot season of sorts this year, with the network currently considering a reboot of “The Rockford Files” starring David Boreanaz and a new Dick Wolf show, “What the Dead Know.”
