Variety reports that Taylor Bloom has joined the cast of the NBC drama pilot “Protection.”
The project was piloted on NBC in January. Bloom joins previously announced cast members Peter Krauss, Hope Davis, Tommy O’Brien and Kat Canning.
The show’s logline reads, “When a U.S. marshal takes the job, a law enforcement family becomes the target of a mysterious assassin, and a seemingly simple case turns into a deadly conspiracy. Bridging personal differences and transcending professional boundaries, the Thornhill family must use a lifetime of expertise protecting civilians and politicians to protect each other and bring the killer to justice…even if it means betraying the norms of their oath.”
Bloom stars as Russ Thornhill, who is described as “a former Marine who now works for the Department of Justice. Russ is idealistic, trusting and believes in people’s interests.”
Bloom recently appeared on season 2 of the Netflix comedy series “The Vince Staples Show.” He also appears in season 11 of FX’s popular anthology series American Horror Story.
He is repped by Buchwald and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
“Protection” comes from writer and executive producer Josh Safran. Jenna Bush Hager is also an executive producer, as is her producing partner Ben Spector. Rebecca Thomas (“Limetown,” “Stranger Things”) will direct and executive produce the pilot. The studio is Universal Television.
Other drama pilots currently in contention at NBC include a reboot of “The Rockford Files,” Dick Wolf’s “Dead People Know” and the flawed detective drama “Puzzled.”
