When Savannah Guthrie and her siblings looked at their home after their 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing, they knew “something was very wrong.”
The journalist revealed chilling new details about the matriarch’s disappearance in an interview on the “Today” show on Thursday.
“The door was thrown open, there was blood on the porch, and the Ring camera had been torn out,” she told Hoda Kotb. “So we said, ‘This is no good.'”
The Guthrie’s initially thought that because the back door had been thrown open, they “thought that maybe (Nancy) had some kind of medical emergency during the night and some form of paramedics had arrived,” but “that didn’t make sense.”
“I thought maybe they came and they took her from behind because there was a stretcher,” Savannah said. “But her phone, wallet and all her belongings were there.”
She expressed distrust of the kidnapper who stole such a “little person” from her home and lived with her.
Savannah tearfully described how Nancy was captured “in the middle of the night in her pajamas, no shoes, no medication.”
After decrying the large number of ransom notes investigators received (of which she believes only two are genuine), Savannah pointed to footage of the kidnappers that authorities obtained last month.
“It’s absolutely terrifying,” she said of the armed and masked person. “It’s absolutely horrifying. I can’t imagine that was the person she saw standing over the bed.”
“I can’t do it. It’s too much,” Savannah continued, crying.
As for Savannah’s thoughts on the joint investigation between the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI, he noted, “The investigation is still ongoing.”
The former lawyer said, “People are working tirelessly, and we understand that. But we need answers. We don’t feel safe without knowing, and someone can do the right thing. Our hearts are focused on that.”
Elsewhere in the roundtable, Savannah admitted that although she “needs to know” Nancy’s whereabouts, she believes she received a message from God about the mystery.
Savannah, who has a “strong and resolute faith,” said she “heard a voice” saying, “You know where she is. She’s with me.”
The Daytime Emmy winner declared, “So whether she’s still on this earth or in heaven, I know where she is. I know who she’s with.”
Nancy hasn’t been seen since January 31st, and the Guthrie’s are offering a $1 million bounty to anyone who can inform them.
