Jon Bernthal, who returned in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 1, will return in Marvel’s special presentation ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill’ scheduled for release on May 12, one week after the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 2 finale on May 5th.
The eight-episode second season of “Born Again” will premiere on Tuesday, with episodes 2 and 3 both premiering on March 31, but episodes will otherwise air weekly.
Bernthal originally starred as Frank Castle in Season 2 of Netflix’s Daredevil series in 2016, where he faced off against and later teamed up with a blind vigilante played by Charlie Cox. Castle, a military veteran driven to revenge after the massacre of his family, was so popular that he headlined his own spin-off show, The Punisher, which aired for two seasons from 2017 to 2019.
Netflix’s street heroes are slowly returning to the MCU, including Bernthal’s The Punisher, Cox’s Daredevil, and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. After the Netflix show ended, Cox reprized his role as lawyer Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, then She-Hulk: The Lawyer, and Echo. In 2025, he starred in the revival series Daredevil: Born Again, the first M-rated Marvel series on Disney+. Bernthal also appeared on the show, reuniting with Cox and teaming up with him against corrupt New York Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), also known as the Kingpin. Following the success of Daredevil: Born Again, which has been renewed for a third season, it has been revealed that Bernthal will star in his own Punisher MCU special.
But Bernthal’s character is much more than that. He will also appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, co-starring Tom Holland. Other MCU characters such as Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Michael Mando’s Scorpion from Spider-Man: Homecoming will also return in the film.
