Two stars were conspicuously absent from the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premiere: Emily Osment and Mitchell Musso.
Osment, who played Miley Cyrus’ best friend on the show, informed fans hours before the premiere that he would not be attending due to a current commitment.
“We’re on ‘Georgie & Mandy’…That’s why I missed the 20-year reunion because we’re filming the show here,” she said in the video clip with her ‘Georgie & Mandy’ co-star Montana Jordan.
“But I wanted to say hi and thank you to everyone who has stuck by us over the years. I’m so grateful that you still love this show. I’m so proud to be a part of this show,” the “Young Sheldon” alum added.
In the caption of the post, Osment, 34, reflected on her time on “Hannah Montana,” saying the series “changed[her]life.”
“It gave me a lifelong respect for this medium of comedy. I learned the discipline, patience, timing, and respect of working in an adult space at a young age,” she wrote.
“Words cannot express what your kind message means to me, and I feel how lucky I am to have been a part of this once-in-a-generation, terrifying TV show,” she added.
“Thank you for inviting me into your living room. I hope to be there for many years to come. I would never be here without you guys. I’m working on another beautiful show that I truly love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! ♥️”
Musso also took to Instagram to reflect on his days starring on the hit Disney show.
“‘Hannah Montana’ wrapped its arms around my heart and never let go. We literally grew up with you. The long days, crazy schedules, learning lines, exchanging ideas between takes, figuring out life while the cameras were rolling,” he wrote.
“He taught me so many great values, but the most important thing to me is that laughter can get you through the tough days. That confidence is still with me every day,” added the Pair of Kings actor, also 34.
Musso ended his post by giving a shoutout to his “Hannah Montana” castmates, who have become his “family.”
“To Miley (Cyrus), Emily (Osment), Jason (Earls), Billy Ray (Cyrus), Moises (Arias), and the entire Disney staff, through all the real, messy, and beautiful moments, you became my family,” he wrote.
“Thank you for believing in that goofy kid from Texas with that hair and questionable clothes. Thank you, everyone, for welcoming me into your homes and hearts 20 years ago, and for allowing me to be here today. I’m honored to share all of this with you.”
Musso did not explain why he was absent from the premiere.
Miley, 33, attended Monday’s special premiere along with castmates Shanika Knowles, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, Cody Linley, Jason Earles and Moises Arias.
“Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” will debut on Disney+ and Hulu on March 24th.
The “Wrecking Ball” singer sings fan-favorite songs from the series and interviews “Call Me Daddy” host Alex Cooper. Fellow Disney star Selena Gomez will also make a surprise appearance.
