Princess Diana and David Attenborough parody in edgy ‘SNL UK’ sketch

Princess Diana and Winston Churchill were among the chosen dead Britons brought back to life using Jurassic Park technology in an edgy Saturday Night Live UK sketch.

In the live sketch show’s first episode, a skit titled “David Attenborough’s Last Supper,” a naturalist played by George Fouracres decided to use his brother Richard Attenborough’s “Jurassic Park technique” to select some of the “greatest British people in history” and ask them, “What really makes Britain great?”

In the sketch, Fouracres introduces himself as “I’m David Attenborough, almost.” This is in reference to the fact that Attenborough will turn 100 years old in May.

“Using DNA sampling and my brother’s Jurassic Park technology, we brought some of history’s greatest Brits back to life for one night so we could ask them what makes Britain truly great,” Fouracres continued. “This is David Attenborough’s Last Supper.”

Jack Shepp’s Princess Diana blinks her eyes from behind a menu as she joins a table that includes Winston Churchill, Isaac Newton, Mary Seacole, Benjamin Zephaniah, Freddie Mercury, Queen Elizabeth I, Cilla Black and host Tina Fey, who plays Agatha Christie, among those selected to be resuscitated. “Thank you very much for hosting this dinner party, Sir David,” says Shep-as-Diana in an upper-class accent.

But instead of answering Attenborough’s questions about the greatness of Britain, the guests begin bickering over appetizers. Princess Diana reassured Freddie Mercury that if a menu item had an asterisk next to its name, it would come with free rice.

“The BBC spared no expense in bringing you back to life,” says Attenborough of Four Acres. “I’m sure they’d be happy to cover dinner at The Ivy.”

In the end, he gave up trying to get answers out of his guest and said, “This experiment was a complete waste of time and money. The answer I was looking for as to what really makes Britain great was the NHS and Center Parcs. That’s it. I’ve messed it up. Now we should move on to the sex part of the night. Anyone who wants to go home now has a chance.”
