This isn’t a love song, it’s a nightmare.
Pop star Sara Bareilles was horrified when she discovered a pile of dead animals hidden inside her quiet country home.
The 46-year-old “Waitress” star took to Instagram Thursday to share the moment she forced open a door she’d never opened before, and instantly regretted it.
During the shoot, Bareilles nervously growled and joked about the risky move before things turned dark.
“I live in the country and when I open the door, it’s always been closed,” she sang. “I saw something falling, so I thought I’d take a look and see what’s inside.”
Moments later, she saw a stomach-churning sight and squirmed in fear.
“This is a skull…a skull…a skull bone with maggots,” she said incredulously.
Behind the door? A disgusting mixture of black soot, dirt, and decomposing animal carcasses.
“I don’t know what this is. It’s a giant dragon. What the hell?!” she shrieked.
Bareilles immediately slammed the door, but the damage was done.
In subsequent footage, the upset singer returns with gloves and a paper bag, revealing that he has never been able to open the mysterious door until his hand is pressed down by falling debris.
Peeking inside again, she saw the gruesome discovery, which she described as “the carcass and remains of some sort of giant rodent.” Her best guess is a raccoon…or something worse.
Garden shovel in hand, the Broadway star removed the rotten area, only to uncover more horrors.
“It’s big. It’s like a turkey,” she said, exclaiming.
“Oh my god, it’s like birthing yourself backwards. There’s more than one. There’s more than one!”
Barales scooped up the body and put it in a bag, but later admitted simply: “It was traumatic.”
She even joked that her recent binge-watching of the survival show “Alone” helped prepare her for this terrifying mission.
“I won’t spoil it, but you have to be tough,” she said. “If one of the contestants had come across this, he would have boiled his bones.”
Instead, Barreles said he would choose a more peaceful send-off and give them a “small blessing” before releasing them back into the wild. Even if they were “completely dead.”
Bareilles’ “Girls5eva” co-star Busy Philipps couldn’t handle the footage.
“So mean,” Phillips said on her Instagram Story, laughing and exclaiming. “This is the worst HGTV show I’ve ever seen in my life… She’s braver than me.”
