Zendaya was referring to her and Tom Holland’s AI-generated wedding photo, which went viral earlier this month when her stylist Law Roach said the two had gotten married.
The “Euphoria” and “Spider-Man” star appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Monday night, during which the late night host brought up speculation about her wedding. “I’m sure you know the internet is abuzz with the idea that you might actually be married to Tom,” Kimmel said.
“Really?! I’ve never seen anything like that!” Zendaya replied sarcastically. She did not approve of the marriage, but what appeared to be an engagement ring and a wedding ring were shining on her left hand.
When Kimmel mentioned AI photography, Zendaya laughed and said, “A lot of people have been fooled by AI photography.”
“I was out for a bit in real life and people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, your wedding photos look amazing,’ and I was like, ‘Baby, they’re AI.’ They are not real! ” she added.
The actor said that “many people” in her personal life were also fooled by the AI photo and were upset that they didn’t receive the invitation. Zendaya then teased a video purporting to be of her and Holland’s wedding, but it was actually a clip from her new movie The Drama, with Holland’s mugshot pasted over co-star Robert Pattinson. “Just a little thing to clear up the confusion,” Zendaya said with a cheeky grin.
During the interview, Kimmel also asked Zendaya about the upcoming Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day, in which she co-stars with Holland. She said she had watched “a lot” of the film, which will be released on July 31, and said she was “feeling really good about it.”
He added, “Obviously, it’s a very big part of our story. And we grew up making those movies, and it’s such an honor to be able to make a movie like that. I know that Tom cares so much about the role and does justice to it.”
When Kimmel called Holland “the best Spider-Man of all time,” Zendaya blushed and replied, “I’m biased, but yeah!”
