“Baywatch” star Alexandra Paul was arrested again on Sunday for allegedly trespassing on a farm to release some animals.
Dane County, Wisconsin sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement officers from nearby subdivisions “responded to Ridge Run Farm in the Town of Blue Mounds when 50 to 60 protesters entered the property without permission,” according to a press release.
The former actress, along with other activists, allegedly “entered the facility and began removing large numbers of dogs” from the farm, one of only two major dog breeders in the country conducting scientific research on dogs.
Two vehicles, theft tools and other evidence were seized at the scene, the press release said, adding that some beagles were “recovered and returned to Ridge Run Farm” while others “remain missing.”
Paul, 62, and about 19 other people were arrested, but authorities said everyone involved was “cooperative and respectful.”
“The Dane County Sheriff’s Office understands how deeply people feel about the beagles at Ridge Run Farm and respects their right to express that passion through peaceful protests,” said Sheriff Calvin Barrett.
“Our role is to keep everyone safe and respond when illegal activity occurs. We encourage anyone with concerns about animal welfare or research practices to get involved through lawful and constructive means,” he added.
“The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to maintaining public safety, promoting peaceful dialogue, and ensuring all parties are able to exercise their rights within the law.”
The press release also states that the Ridge Run Farms facility will return its Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATC) breeding license by July 1 following an animal welfare investigation.
Paul, best known for her role as Lieutenant Stephanie Holden on Baywatch, has had several run-ins with the law for her animal activities.
In 2017, actress “Christine” was arrested after participating in a sit-in at a slaughterhouse in Oakland, California. The following year, Paul was arrested for acts of civil disobedience at Sunrise Poultry Farm.
In 2019, the “8 Million Ways to Die” star was arrested for peacefully protesting at Reichert Duck Farm in Petaluma, California, and spent two days in a local jail.
A year later, Paul and six other activists were arrested while trying to rescue pigs from the Farmer John slaughterhouse in Vernon, California.
Paul’s most recent run-in with the law was in 2023, when he appeared in court for rescuing chickens from a Foster Farm slaughterhouse truck. However, the actress was acquitted after a nine-day trial.
Paul’s love for animals began as a teenager, becoming a vegetarian at the age of 14 and switching to veganism in later life.
In a previous interview, Paul revealed that her actress contract states that she will not wear makeup that has been “tested on animals.”
