KPop Demon Hunter stars sing ‘Golden’ at Oscars

EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, who provided the singing voices for Hunter/x on Netflix’s “KPop Demon Hunters,” joined forces on the Oscars stage to perform their smash hit “Golden.”

Prior to the TV broadcast, the segment was teased as a fusion of traditional Korean instrumentalists and dance, drawing on the folklore and cultural roots at the heart of the hit anime. And they delivered a celebration of “Golden” and “KPop Demon Hunter.” Watch the performance here.

“Our music ignites the soul and unites people,” the narrator says before the curtain rises as Huntr/x stands on the steps behind the stage. They descended as the camera cut to the top of the stage, showing the audience waving glowing orbs across the venue. Although the song was obviously abbreviated, EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Ley Ami ended their exuberant rendition of “Golden” by posing with backup dancers clutching flags behind them.

Variety predicted that “Golden” was poised to make its mark in Oscar history as the first K-pop song to win the Oscar for Best Original Song, and received the award immediately after its performance. Earlier this year, “Golden” made another history at the Grammys when it won the award for Best Song Written for Visual Media, becoming the first K-pop song to win a Grammy.

The Hunter/x singers have been on a promotional whirlwind in recent months. They performed at several parties during Grammy Awards week, including the famous Clive Davis event, and just last month appeared together to perform “Golden” at the BAFTAs and BRIT Awards.

“Golden” was written by EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, IDO, 24, and Teddy Park and has been a huge hit since debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2025. It stayed at number one on the chart for five consecutive weeks, making it the longest number one hit by an animation artist.

The song’s success was “justified” and “long overdue,” Lei Ami told Variety magazine in last month’s cover story. “We worked hard. We’ve had doors shut in our face. We’ve been told we’re too little, we’re too much.”
