rundown
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey are not in attendance at tonight’s Oscar ceremony. The couple does not have a qualifying project this year, so they will not be presenting. Neither Swift nor Kelsea have ever attended the Academy Awards.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have never attended the Oscars separately or together, and fans will have to wait even longer for their Academy Awards debut. The couple didn’t appear on the red carpet at tonight’s awards ceremony for very understandable reasons. That means neither has any projects eligible for this year’s awards, nor are they presenting during the show.
Swift and Kelsea have attended Vanity Fair Oscar parties in the past, but not in recent years. Swift last attended an afterparty in 2016.
Kelce, on the other hand, debuted in 2023.
The Oscars focus on movies, but Swift and Kelsea are at the top of their respective fields. During her illustrious career, Swift has won 14 Grammy Awards and been nominated 58 times. Meanwhile, Kelce won three Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs and set numerous team records during his 13 seasons as a football player. However, after directing a number of her own music videos, Swift is planning to direct her first feature film.
Kelce just announced this week that he intends to play another season with the Chiefs. The tight end admitted that Swift was a factor in delaying his retirement during an interview on The Pat McAfee Show.
“Absolutely, definitely (seeing her at the top of the field) motivates me to keep playing,” he said. “We share the same love for our work and, fortunately, we have had this desire since childhood in our elective professions.”
He cited her music career and said seeing her career flourish over the years made him think differently about his own future. “It’s really amazing to see her keep coming to the table,” he said. “Keep finding new things to write about. Keep finding new melodies and things like that. And on top of that, seeing that she still has love and joy in what she’s doing, of course that’s motivation. That’s motivation for anyone. Even more so, when I look at my fiancé (who I’m looking at) and know that he’s going through something where I’m trying to figure out exactly what’s going to happen in the future. Things like that definitely motivate me to say: “I’m not done yet either. I still have ideas for how to play this game.”
