Hailee Steinfeld won’t be attending this year’s Oscars. Her film “Sinners” will be up for multiple awards tonight, including Best Picture. Steinfeld is pregnant with her first child and is nearing her due date.
Hailee Steinfeld did not attend tonight’s Oscar ceremony with her Sinners co-stars. The star is pregnant with her first child and said in a newsletter last month that she was “coming soon.”
During the show, co-star Michael B. Jordan alluded to this in his acceptance speech for Best Actor, thanking him: “Hailey is at home getting ready to have a baby.”
On March 13, Ms. Steinfeld wrote in the Beau Society newsletter about how proud she was of Sinners. When asked to recall a moment in the press or during filming that made him smile, he replied, “At this point, with two days left until the Oscars, I know that there is no single moment that could sum up what this filming experience meant to me. These people left an indelible mark on me and my heart.”
Steinfeld plays Mary opposite Best Actor nominee Michael B. Jordan in the critically acclaimed film directed by Ryan Coogler. The project has had a great awards season, most recently winning Best Ensemble Cast at the Actors Awards earlier this month. “Sinners” is nominated tonight in 16 categories, including Best Picture, making it the most nominated film in Oscar history.
Steinfeld praised Coogler’s directorial style in a profile for ELLE Women in Hollywood, saying, “He’s the most phenomenal listener. Even though he’s directing a large ensemble cast with moving parts, we’re a little late, and we’re messed up by the weather, you’re like the only person in the room. He hears everything you say, and he has a way of reworking something in the moment to make it better than it already is.” It was. ”
She added, “He has a natural talent for writing female characters in a way that doesn’t make them feel any less intimidating. I think that’s largely influenced by[his wife]Ginzi Coogler.”
Steinfeld also reflected on the film’s impact, saying, “I think it’s shocking that it shocked so many people, but I also think it’s the same thing. I was a part of it, and now I’m on the outside of it, and I felt frozen. I can only hope and pray that something like this can move us in this direction.”
Steinfeld announced her pregnancy in December and showed off her maternity style on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards in January, wearing an elegant Prada look.
