Artists4Ceasefire unveils new pin by Shepard Fairey ahead of Oscars

Artists4Ceasefire has a new pin badge ready in time for the 2026 Oscars ceremony.

With just hours left until the 98th Academy Awards ceremony, a group of actors, filmmakers and other artists – who have been calling for a permanent cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and a “just and lasting peace” between Palestinians and Israelis since the end of 2023, according to their description – have announced new pins to be distributed ahead of Sunday night’s ceremony at the Dolby Theater.

The pin, designed by Shepard Fairey, depicts a dove carrying a lotus flower with a barbed wire stem, an image the group claims embodies “hope, resilience and the peace of justice.” According to Artists4Ceasefire, which was launched two weeks after the Oct. 7 attacks, the hearts on top of the flowers “strengthen the power to lead with love and remind us that love for humanity includes a commitment to liberation and freedom for all peoples, from Palestine and Lebanon to Iran, Sudan, Minnesota, and beyond.”

“Humanity and justice are not the privileges of a few; they belong to everyone, without exception,” Fairey said. “Art has the power to transcend national borders and boundaries and remind us that we are all citizens of this planet first. This collaboration with Artists4Ceasefire reminds us that love for all people is not a lack of justice or responsibility, but a necessity. My hope is that this image speaks to the power of solidarity and serves as a reminder that when we come together, the seeds of compassion, dignity, and freedom can break through.”

It’s still unclear which stars will wear the new design on the Oscars red carpet, but the former Artists4Ceasefire badge has become a familiar presence at the awards ceremony over the past two years. Attendees at the 2024 Academy Awards were seen wearing pins, including Billie Eilish, Mark Ruffalo, Ava DuVernay, Ramy Youssef, Riz Ahmed, Mahershala Ali, and Finneas O’Connell, as well as Kawzer Ben Hania, who returns this year for international film nominee The Voice of Hind Rajab. Meanwhile, Javier Bardem and Megan Stalter wore the pins at the 2025 Emmy Awards.

Other stars known for wearing Artists4Ceasefire pins include Susan Thrandon, Phoebe Bridgers, Nicola Coughlan and Hannah Einbinder.
