President Donald Trump stormed into the chilly opening of “Saturday Night Live” this week as his family tried to cope with rising gas prices on a road trip.
This segment of the March 14th episode began with Mikey Day, Ashley Padilla, Marcelo Hernandez, and Sarah Sherman going on a family road trip to observe the rise in gas prices. However, Trump (James Austin Johnson) breaks the scene with a monologue about the week’s events.
“You may remember me for campaign promises like lowering gas prices and banning war. We have to make promises because promises are just lies that haven’t happened yet,” Johnson said as President Trump. “But right now, gas costs about $10 billion a gallon, and that’s for the stock market. And let me tell you, Harry Styles fans in the room tonight, the stock market is going to One Direction,” host Harry Styles reminded of his former group.
President Trump also called out Timothée Chalamet’s viral comments about opera and ballet, saying, “We’re going to win this war because Iran is old and nobody likes Iran. Iran is like ballet and opera and we’re Timothee Chalamet.”
In a subsequent segment, Colin Jost returns as Army Secretary Pete Hegseth, saying, “When people ask about our plans for Iran, I say the same thing: I don’t know,” and “You guys in the media are completely unpatriotic. They’re trying to use my words and actions to make me look like a fool out there.”
Styles is the host and musical guest on this episode.
