David Morse (“We Were Liars”) has joined the cast of Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ drama “Mayors of Kingstown,” co-starring Jeremy Renner and Edie Falco. Season 5 of the series has begun production and, as previously announced, will be the final season of the series.

Morse will play Russell Hardy, described as “an experienced FBI agent dispatched to Kingstown.” The eight-episode final season also stars Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Hundley, Tobi Bamtefa and Derek Webster. Nekar Zadegan, Nicole Galicia and Lennie James also return.

Here’s the logline for Season 5: “In the wake of Tracy’s murder and Mike (Renner) and Kyle’s (Taylor Hundley) revenge on Callahan, FBI agent Russell Hardy (Morss) arrives in Kingstown in search of the ‘fugitive’ Callahan. Agent Hardy, a true lawman, threatens to expose all of Mike’s sins and secrets and disrupt Kingstown society. A delicate balance of power.”

Morse’s credits also include both seasons of “The Last Thing He Told Me,” “The Chest,” “The Good Lord Bird,” “The Morning Show,” “The Deuce,” “Escape At Dannemora,” “Hack,” “Treme,” “True Detective” and “St. Elsewhere.” As for movies, you have a feature film called “Looking Through Water,” and upcoming releases include “Mayday” and “Saturn Return.” Past films include “The Green Mile,” “16 Blocks,” “The Hurt Locker,” “World War Z” and “Concussion.” He received Emmy nominations for House and John Adams, and Tony nominations for his second Broadway production of How I Learn to Drive and the 2018 revival of The Iceman.

Sheridan and Hugh Dillon co-produced “Mayor of Kingstown” at Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Bossk Ranch Productions. Executive producers are Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yali, Michael Friedman, Dave Erickson, Wendy Liss, Evan Perazzo, Michael Slovis, Regina Corrado, and Keith Cox. Erickson serves as showrunner on the series.
