Adult Swim’s animated space comedy series “Rick and Morty” returns for Season 9, premiering May 24 at 11pm ET.
Rick and Morty follows cynical mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his shy grandson Morty Smith as they try to balance their daily lives while embarking on extradimensional adventures in Rick’s homemade flying saucer, the Space Cruiser.
The official description for Season 9 reads: “Rick and Morty is back, baby! Season 9 is all certified bangers. No AI slops! Just grade-A organic slops made by real humans with real human features like back hair and cysts. Look, or we’d be neglecting our families for nothing.”
“I know it’s my job to say this show continues to be on top, but there’s also the benefit of that being true,” Adult Swim president Michael O’Welleen said in a statement. “What this programming unit does season after season is kind of scary. They just put a tremendous amount of talent and brilliance into these episodes. From the first frame, you’re going to see amazing high-concept madness with some of the best character writing ever done. Again, it’s my job to say that, but it’s also true.”
“Rick and Morty” stars Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer. The show will be executive produced by Dan Harmon and Scott Marder, who also serves as showrunner. The series has won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
“Rick and Morty” Season 9 will be available in more than 170 countries and 42 languages. In the United States, new episodes will be available for purchase from digital retailers the day after their premiere on Adult Swim.
“Rick and Morty” Season 9 will be available to stream in the US starting August 31st.
