Katherine Heigl made a surprise return to the spotlight in a not-so-grey ensemble.
The “Grey’s Anatomy” alum attended the Big Dog Ranch Rescue event benefiting Wine, Women and Shoes at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla., on Sunday, marking her first red carpet event in two years.
The actress styled her hair loosely to show off her drop earrings and wore a colorfully patterned dress. She completed her look with royal blue heels and a bright yellow quilted Chanel purse.
Heigl, 47, attended the event at Donald Trump’s mansion with his mother, Nancy Heigl, and posed for a photo with Dog Whisperer dog trainer Cesar Millan.
Heigl’s last public appearance was in January 2024, when she reunited with the Grey’s Anatomy cast on stage at the Emmy Awards. The group, which also includes Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers and Chandra Wilson, presented the award for best supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie.
Heigl left Los Angeles and now lives in Utah with her husband, Josh Kelley, and their three children: Nalley, 17, Adalide, 13, and Joshua, 9.
“I didn’t know how to raise[my kids]in L.A., so I felt like I could do it here,” she told E! News regarding relocation to Utah in March 2023.
“I’ll be able to see more of what’s scaring me, and I’ll be able to see more of the kinds of friends they have, the places they go, the kinds of activities they participate in, and what the hell they’re doing on their phones,” she added.
Heigl said living in Utah was a respite from his hectic lifestyle in Los Angeles.
“I was able to relax a little bit and let go of the noisy part of me a little bit,” she said.
“I don’t know if you can completely stop hustling in any career, but being able to disconnect from it a little bit and choose the time to hustle instead of being in it all the time was really important to me.”
The “Knocked Up” star previously admitted that she struggled to bond with her eldest daughter due to her hectic work schedule at the time.
She and Kelly adopted nine-month-old Nalee from South Korea in 2009 and had to start filming Life As We Know It just three days later, she recalled during an appearance on The View in November 2022.
“I never saw the baby,” she said. “I was working with three triplets who were playing goddaughters, and I spent more time with them than I did with my newborn daughter.”
“I was always afraid that I missed the opportunity to really bond with her and that she didn’t love me in that moment,” she added.
