We have some news from Drew. “The Drew Barrymore Show” has been renewed for two seasons and will run through 2028. That means the daytime talk strip will continue through Season 7 and Season 8.

CBS Media Ventures, which produces and distributes the show, announced the renewal on Monday. The news comes at a difficult time for daily talk shows. CBS’ “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” will end in May. During the day, NBCUniversal’s “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and Debmar Mercury’s “Shelly” will go off the air by the end of the year. “Drew Barrymore” joins “Jennifer Hudson” at Warner Bros./Telepictures, which recently secured a daytime renewal.

The “Drew Barrymore” renewal includes renewals on CBS-owned stations in major markets (including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago), as well as Nexstar and Sinclair stations. According to CBS Media Ventures, Drew Barrymore has been given time slot upgrades in Seattle, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Charlotte, Baltimore, Kansas City and Cincinnati.

“The Drew Barrymore” is aided by CBS synergies and CBS Media Ventures’ strategy to deliver “The Drew Barrymore Show” as a two-and-a-half hour block, which can be split into one-hour blocks or combined with local news.

“Drew is the original influencer, a true trendsetter and cultural force who is always ahead of the curve,” executive producer Jason Kurtz said in a statement. The show’s success is rooted in the fact that Drew continues to express his true, unfiltered self every day, challenging the norms of daytime television and reimagining what the format can be in a multiplatform world. ”

“The Drew Barrymore Show” averaged 1.6 million viewers, making it the talker’s most-watched season, according to CBS Media Ventures. The show began filming long-form interviews with guests behind closed doors and distributing them in two ways: on-air edits and extended digital cuts on the show’s YouTube channel.

“While this show started as a space for intimate conversations, we will continue to fly the flag as a truly multi-platform experience,” Barrymore said in a statement. “We live in a world where people discover content in so many different ways, and from the beginning of 2020, our mission has been to break the mold rather than follow the traditional daytime landscape. My curiosity about people is what drives me. I see this work as an opportunity and a gift, so I’m very excited to continue. Our family of shows is deeply grateful to CBS and George Cheeks for their support in helping us get here.”

The New York-based show is executive produced by Barrymore and Kurtz.
