Despite his flirtatious banter with Maura Higgins in Traitor, Rob Roush has secretly had a girlfriend for the past two months.
The reality TV star made the revelation during Thursday’s Reveal Reunion when host Andy Cohen asked the fan-favorite if he hoped to strike up a romance with his great co-star.
Rausch’s current relationship with a mystery woman was also teased in a Feb. 26 interview with The Cut. He told the outlet that he was “currently working on a woodworking project for my girlfriend,” but decided to keep her identity private “for now.”
Higgins, 35, and Rausch, 27, further shut down rumors of a relationship while chatting with Us Weekly for a cover story published Friday.
“I don’t want to spoil this for viewers, but no, nothing happened between me and Rob,” Higgins said, noting that he sees Roush as a “brother.”
“People online are saying I’m ‘crazy.’ Trust me, you’d know if I was d-kmatized,” she continued. “If they think I’m flirting, they don’t know me and have never seen me on Love Island.”
Rausch agreed, further emphasizing, “We didn’t get into a relationship and we never will. We’re just friends.”
The two also addressed fan speculation that he may have touched Higgins’ feet during episode 9.
“I’m touching the chair, not her legs!” the Love Island USA alum said, and Higgins agreed, saying in the series’ fourth episode: “I never touched[her]legs, except when I carried her up the hill.”
Although Higgins and Rausch were not a couple in real life, the two formed a strong bond while filming the show and made it to the end.
However, in a truly harrowing moment, Snake Wrangler betrays Higgins, revealing that he has been playing as a traitor all along, taking the entire $220,800 prize pot for himself.
“He said he was going to give me a present, and it was a Birkin handbag, so if he gave me that, I would be completely forgiven,” Higgins told the magazine.
“As a girl who had never seen an episode of Traitors, I made it to the finale. Yeah, I didn’t win, but I got to wear the whole costume. And if Rob gives me a Birkin purse, then I’ve won. That’s all I need.”
Mr. Rausch admitted that he enlisted the help of fellow “traitor” Lisa Rinna to track down the coveted bag, describing him as “colluding” with her.
“[Rinna]said she could probably walk in and buy it for me,” he said, explaining the extremely rigorous process that goes into acquiring such a luxury bag. “But it turned out to be much more difficult than I expected.”
