Maggie Winters will debut her new comedy special “Margaret” on YouTube on March 17th.
The Stand Up Hour is the result of a partnership between Abso Lutely Productions and comedy talent incubator Upright Citizens Brigade. “Margaret” was filmed at the UCB Theater in Los Angeles.
The special is described as a one-woman show “culled from Winters’ adult life experiences in Chicago.” Winters first toured the show in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York in 2023, before embarking on a month-long run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2024.
“Margaret” is directed by Winters’ Irish brothers, Bert and Liam Winters (note that they are making a special debut on St. Patrick’s Day), who perform as part of the Chicago-based band Melkbury. It is produced by UCB and Abso Lutely, a banner founded by Tim Heidecker, Eric Wareheim, and Dave Kneebone.
“‘Margaret’ is a wonderful showcase of Maggie Winters’ voice,” Kneebone said in a statement. “This is sharp, personal, and wildly funny, and really shows what is possible when Abso and UCB work together to give artists real support and space to make big changes.”
Winters has opened for comedians such as Colin Jost, Conor O’Malley and Meg Stalter, and recently completed the national “Fives & Friends” tour with Conor Wood. In 2023, she was named Just for Laughs’ “Newcomer of the Year.”
Winters hosts the podcast “Literally Life Changing With Maggie Winters” and is also known as a recurring cast member on Season 3 of Danny McBride’s HBO comedy “The Righteous Gemstones.”
