It has been announced that Busy Philipps will appear as a regular in the upcoming CBS drama series “Cupertino.”
Phillips joins the show along with other cast members Mike Colter, Rachel Keller, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Ella Stiller, and Nick Dodani. The logline says the show is “a David vs. Goliath courtroom drama set in the heart of Silicon Valley that follows a lawyer (Colter) who is swindled out of stock options by his former employer, a tech startup. Refusing to do so, he teams up with another recently fired lawyer (Keller) to represent those exploited by the tech elite and help them fight back in a high-stakes battle against Goliath, who rules Silicon Valley.
Phillips is set to star as Natalia, who is described as “the beautiful, fun and outspoken first wife of an AI billionaire, whom he divorced when he turned 40. Now Natalia wants revenge and agrees to fund Michael and Olivia’s start-up law firm to promote Michael and other AI businesses.”
Phillips rose to prominence early in his career with appearances on iconic shows like “Freaks and Geeks” and “Dawson’s Creek.” She has also appeared on shows such as “Cougar Town,” which ran for six seasons, and the critically acclaimed comedy “Girls5Eva.” Her film work includes “Mean Girls: The Musical,” “I Feel Pretty,” and “The Gift.” She currently hosts the QVC+ talk show “Busy This Week” and previously hosted the E! talk show “Busy Tonight.”
She is repped by Range Media Partners and Gang Tire.
Cupertino comes from Robert and Michelle King, who will write, executive produce and co-showrun the series under their Kingsize Productions. Robert will also direct the pilot, with Liz Glotzer serving as executive producer. Kings is executive producing under an overall agreement with CBS Studios.
“Cupertino” was officially made into a series on CBS in October 2025. The Kings initially began developing the show at CBS in 2024, after which the network commissioned a full writers’ room and a 13-episode script order in 2025.
