Vera Wang went blonde for BAFTA night.
The 76-year-old legendary fashion designer turned heads in her new platinum outfit at the BAFTA Awards 2026 red carpet held at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday.
She appeared in a floor-length white ruched jersey gown and a black bolero jacket with dramatic mutton leg sleeves. The exaggerated cut is perhaps a nod to the 19th century style that recently appeared on the red carpet at the Wuthering Heights press tour.
Wang’s hair change was even more dramatic considering she appeared at Saturday’s BAFTA Film Awards nomination party with her usual brunette hair with caramel highlights.
At the event, she wore a black bandeau top and matching maxi skirt, a voluminous fur muff, leather opera gloves, and a black brimmed statement hat by New York City milliner Essen Shell.
“Mad Hatter moment…! From Milan to London 🖤🖤🇮🇹🇬🇧,” Wang wrote on Instagram about her red carpet accessories. A few days before heading to London, she was in Milan for the Winter Olympics, where the former figure skater competed in the women’s singles final with her daughter Josephine.
This isn’t the first time the designer has pulled a platinum switcheroo over BAFTA weekend. At the 2025 BAFTA Nominees Reception at the National Gallery last February, she debuted a pin-straight platinum blonde wig paired with a Vera Wang Haute cut-out black tunic and floor-length skirt, and diamond jewelry from the Jared Atelier x Vera Wang collection.
“Are you sure blondes are more fun?” she teased on Instagram at the time. “If they were to attend a BAFTA nominees reception…at the National Gallery, one of the most beautiful buildings in London…!”
And the next day, she showed up to the 2025 ceremony wearing a black-and-white peplum dress with a blunt brunette bob and exposed abs. This was essentially a backup for the one-two punch she did this year.
The bridal dress mogul, whose client list includes Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande and Victoria Beckham, dismissed comments about her youthful appearance in a conversation with Page Six Style last May.
“I don’t feel old at all,” the mother-of-two explained at the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Hot Pink Party, adding that she has no plans to retire anytime soon. “I think I spend most of my life working, but when I’m not working, I’m trying to raise my daughters, so both of those things have actually kept me pretty busy.”
In June, Wang celebrated his 76th birthday with a dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Relais Plaza in Paris. She wore a floor-grazing black dress with sheer peekaboo panels that featured a dazzling ’76’ in gold rhinestones on the arm.
She previously told Page Six that she owes her youthful appearance to junk food and vodka, saying in 2023, “I eat McDonald’s, absolutely. I order it every day. I eat it for about two weeks and then I change again.”
