Tanweer Productions is partnering with former Buccaneer Media co-CEO Richard Tulk-Hart and his recently launched Volteo Media to develop Tanweer’s darkly comical crime series Antiparos.
Created by Alexandros Tsilifonis and George O’Neill Zafeiropoulos, this 6 x 45 foot series follows Greek police investigators who return to the island of Antiparos for much-needed research. As soon as he arrives, he meets an overzealous British police officer and is drawn into investigating the disappearance of a billionaire and solving the most complex murder case of his career.
Tanweer previously worked with Tarq Hart on Leonard Cohen’s dramatic miniseries So Long, Marianne (2024), starring Alex Wolff, produced by NRK and Crave, and distributed worldwide by Cineflix Rights.
Tanweer said the new partnership is the next step in taking the English-developed Antiparos towards production. This series is largely funded and we are currently finalizing some great international partnerships. “Antiparos” participated in the Series Mania Forum’s co-pro pitching session last year.
“‘Antipalos’ goes beyond the postcard Greek islands and delves into the strange, funny and disturbing reality that lies beneath. Set during the Greek Orthodox Easter festival, it is a crime story where black humor sits alongside moral compromise, and where a small community becomes a mirror to much larger societal failings,” said Tsirifonis, who also directed the film.
“This series stands out in that it places a noir mystery on bright, familiar terrain and slowly fades from there until questions of duty, family loyalty, and justice collide. Ultimately, it’s about what we owe to this place that raised us, and how far we’re willing to go to protect it.”
Reflecting on the current state of the international television industry, Mr. Talquhart said: “We have been through some tough times over the past few years, but 2026 is starting to show some very positive signs for those involved in the international landscape and willing to collaborate.
Broadcasters are recognizing the need now, and as long as producers budget wisely and partner with the right talent, there is a lot of potential in the short and long term future. “Antiparos” is a great example of this, with Tanwia and Volteo each bringing their own strengths. ”
“Funding comes from a number of sources, so it’s important at all levels to think creatively, plan ahead and give the audience what they want, not what they want to make. In short, we’re at rock bottom,” he added.
Founded in 2018 by Joseph Samaan and headed by Dionysis Samiotis, Tanweer Prods. is part of Tanweer Media Group and produced the award-winning film “Murderess” (2023), which represented Greece at the Oscars. He is also involved in the production of the feature-length biopic Stelios (2024), which became Greece’s biggest box office success in the past 10 years.
Television credits include “17 Threads” (2024) and “Rififi” (2025) directed by Sotiris Tsaforias for the leading Greek pay-TV platform Cosmote TV, and “So Long Marianne” (2024), a miniseries about Leonard Cohen starring Alex Wolff and co-produced by NRK (Norway) and Crave (Canada). It was first released in 2007, with Cineflix rights handling worldwide distribution. At Series Mania.
