Icky Minaj!
The jeweler who designed Nicki Minaj’s famous necklace is selling it to protest her MAGA transition, a Page Six investigation has learned.
ONCH created the pink fried chicken that the rapper memorably featured on stage at the iHeart Music Festival. It was loved by everyone from Billboard to Bon Appétit, and even featured on a Remy Ma diss track.
But now Minaj is auctioning it off to benefit the American Civil Liberties Union after embracing the Trump administration.
The “Anaconda” rapper wore the piece on stage in 2011 with a pink tutu and pink bra, and featured the piece on the cover of Billboard magazine, which left some wondering, “Is it satire, offensive, or just making you hungry?”
And in 2017, it was still on some people’s minds.
On Slether, Ma raps, “Are you stupid? I wore a pink diamond chicken wing chain (Are you stupid?)”
He had a leopard beehive on his head (are you stupid?)
But now ONCH, a Taiwanese American immigrant, is selling the original necklace Minaj wore and signed after she embraced the MAGA movement.
Think more K F-You than KFC.
In January, she was interviewed by Erica Kirk at one of Turning Point USA’s conventions, and in January she appeared on stage with President Donald Trump, declaring herself “his biggest fan.”
The one-of-a-kind necklace will hit the auction block on February 24th on shopping app Palm Street with a starting bid of $30,000. Pre-auction bids are currently being accepted.
ONCH, whose other clients include Rihanna, Kate Moss and Ariana Grande, said: “As an artist of color, it’s important to me how my work is remembered. By using this moment to give back, I can give my designs new meaning beyond the current spectacle.”
This is the first time this work has been shown to the public.
