Jaden Michael will star in the Hulu YA drama pilot “Foster Dade,” Variety exclusively reports.
As previously reported, the pilot will be released on Hulu in August and is based on the novel Foster-Dade Explorers in the Cosmos by Nash Jenkins. Michael will co-star with previously announced lead actor Jack Aldridge, as well as other cast members including Chloe East, Cameron Mann, Matt Bomer, Heather Barnes, Wyatt Aubrey, Olivia Campos Tarantino, and Vinnie Chhivar.
According to the official logline, the show is a “sophisticated mystery set in an East Coast boarding school that explores privilege, scandal, sexuality, and masculinity amid the rise of social media, millennial angst, and pharmaceuticals.”
Michael plays Mark Stetson. The character is described as “one of only two openly gay students at Kennedy College. Stetson was born into an oligarch and pursues his dream of becoming an actor.”
Michael recently appeared in the Prime Video series “Harlan Coben’s Shelter” in the lead role of Mickey Bolitar. He is perhaps best known for his starring role as a young Colin Kaepernick in the Netflix limited series Colin in Black & White. His other roles include shows like “The Get Down” and movies like “Vampire vs. the Bronx” and “Wonderstruck.” He will next be seen in Tyler Perry’s upcoming Netflix film Why Did I Get Wedding Again?
He is repped by Linden Entertainment, Gersh and Jorn Levine Burns Klinzmann.
“Foster Dade” is written and executive produced by Greg Berlanti and Bash Dolan. Sarah Schechter and Lee London Redman of Berlanti Productions will also executive produce, along with Donald De Line, Robbie Rogers and Jenkins of De Line Pictures. Daniel Minahan will direct the pilot. The studio is Warner Bros. Television, with which Berlanti has an overall contract.
