Megyn Kelly slammed Meghan McCain for supporting Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show performance.
“As if we needed further assurance that conservative America’s ‘taste level’ does not match Meghan McCain’s ‘taste level,'” a political commentator wrote in Monday’s X.
McCain initially gave a heartfelt response after the Puerto Rican artist’s set at Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, Calif., on Sunday.
“Sorry, but if you didn’t enjoy Bad Bunny’s halftime show, I’m genuinely wondering about your level of taste. And not everything in life has to be ruined by politics,” the former “The View” co-host wrote, via X.
Following Kelly’s criticism, fans quickly flocked to the comments section to share their opinions.
“I didn’t like the song at all. It wasn’t political. I just couldn’t get into it. It wasn’t my style of music,” one person replied, while another added: “Like she said, not everything has to be political. Just give it a break.”
Another social media user shared: “People are allowed to disagree with you.” “That doesn’t make them enemies. You don’t have to keep attacking them all the time. There’s a lot of joy in this life…dip your toe in the water.”
Piers Morgan also jumped into the conversation, writing on social media that he “agreed” with McCain.
The British broadcaster also made his opinion known alongside Kelly on Monday’s episode of “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”
“I’m sorry Mr. Piers, but for you to get up there and perform the entire show in Spanish is a middle finger to the rest of America,” Kelly argued. “Who cares that there are 40 million Spanish speakers in the United States? There are 310 million people who don’t speak any Spanish at all.”
She added that it wasn’t about “what he was actually trying to do during his Super Bowl performance.”
“It’s about him, the fact that he was chosen to perform at the Super Bowl, and of course someone who has been an outspoken critic of the Trump administration and America,” she explained.
“We want something that everyone can understand. I don’t think Bad Bunny used his appearance to bash America, but I can’t be sure because his Spanish performance wasn’t subtitled.”
During the performance, Bad Bunny paid homage to his roots by singing primarily in Spanish, along with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
Turning Point USA held its own halftime show in protest during Bad Bunny’s performance. Their lineup included Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.
