Margot Robbie has revealed that a male actor once gave her a book that told her to eat less.
The Australian actress said she received a shocking book from her co-star, which she found offensive.
“Very early in my career, a male actor I worked with gave me a book called ‘Why French Women Don’t Gain Weight,’ and it was basically a book that told me to eat less,” she told Wuthering Heights co-creator Charli XCX in a video interview for Complex.
“And I was like, ‘Hey, fuck you, dude,'” she said of her reaction.
Robbie, 35, said she did not know what became of the actor as the incident was “a really long time ago”.
“He basically gave me a book to let me know that I should lose weight,” the “Barbie” star said. “I thought, ‘Wow.'”
Charlie quipped of the actor, “Your career is over, baby.”
French Women Don’t Get Fat: The Secret of Eating for Pleasure is written by Mireille Guiliano and published in 2007.
According to Amazon’s description, this is not a diet book, but rather a guide on how to approach healthy living and an “inspiring look at modern health and eating.”
Robbie made headlines with her stunning fashion look while promoting her latest film Wuthering Heights, the film adaptation of Emily Bronte’s 1847 classic novel starring her and Jacob Elordi.
Last week, the actress wore a stunning bracelet on her left wrist, directly inspired by the Brente sisters, at the UK premiere of Wuthering Heights. This is a perfect replica of the 175-year-old mourning bracelet once owned and worn by Charlotte Bronte.
Upon the death of Charlotte’s siblings (Emily and her sister Anne died five months apart in December 1848 and May 1849, respectively), she commissioned original bracelets made from their hair, forever woven and intertwined together.
