After a record-breaking season of Actors on Actors, Variety and CNN are teaming up once again for a unique town hall conversation featuring Timothée Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey.
The event marks the reunion of Chalamet and McConaughey, who played son and father in Christopher Nolan’s 2014 sci-fi blockbuster Interstellar.
Filmed in front of students at the University of Texas at Austin, the program brings together two of Hollywood’s most dynamic actors for a candid discussion of their craft and creative process. In addition to reflecting on their approach to acting and the roles that have influenced their work, Chalamet, who recently received his third Best Actor Oscar nomination for Marty Supreme, and McConaughey, who won an Academy Award for Dallas Buyers Club and just starred in the Apple TV+ drama The Lost Bus, will be answering questions from the audience throughout the night. McConaughey, a UT Austin graduate, has taught film classes at the university’s Moody College of Communication since 2015.
“CNN and Variety Town Hall Event: Timothée Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey” will air on CNN at 7:00 pm ET on February 21st and will be streamed for subscribers to CNN’s streaming service.
“This special event highlights the strength of CNN and Variety’s partnership and our shared commitment to thoughtful, premium experiences that bring viewers closer to the artists they admire,” said Amy Entelis, CNN’s creative executive vice president of worldwide original and creative development. “Timothée Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey will provide a masterclass in craft and creativity. This is exactly the kind of elevated programming we are proud to offer to CNN viewers and streaming subscribers.”
“Timothée Chalamet and Matthew McConaughey first met on the set of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, where they played father and son,” said Variety co-editor-in-chief and co-president Ramin Setoudeh. “And at Variety, we’re thrilled to be reunited. After the success of this season’s Actors on Actors, we’re thrilled to be working with CNN again on this unique town hall event. We can’t wait to see two of Hollywood’s most daring actors come together.”
The latest season of “Actors on Actors” premiered in December with a lineup that included Ariana Grande and Adam Sandler, Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts and Sean Penn, and more.
