HBO Max has finally set a rollout date for its standalone streaming service in the UK and Ireland.
The platform will be available starting March 26 and will feature content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Studios and Max Originals.
The UK launch will offer viewers four subscription options: two ad-based tiers at £4.99 and £5.99 per month (the latter including downloads and recent releases), and two ad-free packages at £9.99 and £14.99 per month (which includes 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Atmos where available). TNT Sport is still available as a standalone or bolt-on for £30.99 per month.
Scripted releases available to fans in the UK and Ireland include the entire first season of The Pit starring Noah Wyle, both seasons of Euphoria and House of the Dragon, and the debut installment of DC’s Green Lantern series, The Lantern. Library content also includes every episode of Friends, Succession, The Sopranos, and Game of Thrones.
“Euphoria” Season 3 and “The Pit” Season 2 will be launched in the near future, and the next “Harry Potter” series will debut in 2027.
The service also lets you watch movies, but the most basic of the four subscription tiers on offer doesn’t include recent blockbusters like “Sinners,” “One Battle After Another,” “Superman” and “A Minecraft Movie.”
TNT Sports will also move from the Discovery+ app (which will remain a separate service) to HBO Max on launch day, giving subscribers access to soccer (including the Premier League and UEFA Champions League), tennis (Grand Slam), cycling (Grand Tour), and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
“For decades, we’ve delighted audiences in the UK and Ireland with our great stories and brands, and we’re thrilled to finally bring it all together on HBO Max and directly to all consumers,” said JB Perrette, President of Global Streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery.
Andrew Georgiou, president of Warner Bros. Discovery UK and Ireland, said: “The launch of HBO Max in the UK and Ireland marks a significant moment for viewers here. HBO Max will offer viewers the best-loved series and films from HBO, Warner Bros. and DC Studios, plus premium sports from TNT Sports in the UK, all within a single, superior destination with great content and a strong value proposition.”
HBO Max will be available on all major devices, including TVs, phones and tablets, via the app, hbomax.com, and launch partners Sky and Amazon. Pre-registration will begin on the App Store and Google Play from March 12th.
HBO Max first launched in the U.S. in 2020 and has since expanded to Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Currently available in over 110 regions around the world.
