The “The Studio” team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg took time Saturday to pay tribute to their late co-star Catherine O’Hara, as they won more awards for their Apple TV series “The Studio.”

O’Hara passed away on January 30th at the age of 71. In “The Studio,” Ms. O’Hara played Patti Lee, a powerful executive. A show that takes a closer look at the inner workings of Hollywood. O’Hara was nominated for an Emmy last year for supporting comedy actresses on the show’s freshman season.

While accepting the award for Best Comedy Series at the Directors Guild Awards on Saturday at the Beverly Hilton, Rogen and his longtime writing, directing and producing partner Evan Goldberg reflected on what it meant to have O’Hara join their bold series, which won Best Comedy at last September’s Emmy Awards.

Rogen and Goldberg called O’Hara their “childhood idol.” They were both huge fans of her role in the 1990 hit Home Alone, so they had some funny moments while filming Season 1 of The Studio. They shared stories from when they worked with her on the set of “The Studio.”

“‘Home Alone’ is honestly, in many ways, the kind of movie that made me want to make movies,” Rogen explained to the Starry Room. “She was always yelling ‘Kevin, Kevin’ in that movie, and she was always yelling ‘Evan, Evan’ on set, and every time she did that we were like, ‘Home Alone.'” “

O’Hara was a beloved figure in the comedy world, also having a reputation for being a great colleague on film and television sets. Her presence alone made them want to make “The Studio” a worthwhile endeavor for their esteemed co-stars.

“The best thing about her is that she showed me that you can be a complete genius and at the same time be the most amazing person in the world,” Rogen said. “We work hard every day to make enough shows to warrant her time and her presence. So ultimately I want to thank the DGA, but most of all I want to thank Catherine O’Hara.”
