Rebecca Ferguson will react differently if she gets “yelled at” by her “Idiot” co-star again.
The actress, who first made headlines in 2024 for her on-set experience with the mystery actor, reflected on the conflict in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK.
“It was very scary,” the “Dune” star recalled Wednesday. “At the time, I didn’t know how to say, ‘Can I talk to you privately?'”
Mr. Ferguson, 42, now believes he would “take this person aside” and talk.
“A lot of people say we’re too woke, but I think, no, that’s great,” she added. “We need to swing the pendulum to the other side to find a balance between them.”
The Golden Globe nominee pointed out that when she shared the story on Josh Smith’s Reign podcast in February 2024, it was never about the “person” who yelled at her, but about her own reaction.
At the time, Ms. Ferguson was “very vulnerable and uncomfortable” and “crying as she walked off set.”
“This person literally looked at me in front of the entire staff and said, ‘You call yourself an actor? Is this what you have to work with me?'” she recalled. “I just stood there broken. This person was No. 1 on the call sheet, so there was no safety net for me. No one had my back.”
The Girl on the Train star ultimately called out her “bully”, who was revealed to be not Hugh Jackman or Tom Cruise, and demanded that he behave near the tennis ball or talk to the back of the man’s head.
“I remember the producers coming in and saying, ‘We can’t do this to No. 1. We have to get this person on set,'” she continued, noting that the director even admitted that he “didn’t care” for anyone other than the “erratic” actor.
Later, Ferguson’s Hercules co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also expressed support on social media.
“I hate seeing this but I love seeing her take on the bulls—t,” the 53-year-old tweeted. “Rebecca was a heaven-sent guardian angel on our set. I love that woman. I want to know who did this.”
Last year, Ferguson dropped more hints about the unidentified A-lister during a sit-down with the Times.
“Other people who worked with this person had an equally great time,” she claimed, but admitted it was “really difficult” to “stand up” to others.
“Sometimes I throw someone under the bus in front of the entire crew to make a point. I don’t take any credit for my actions,” the “Greatest Showman” star explained. “They’ll fire you and give the job to someone else.”
